History
The National Association of Australian University Colleges Incorporated was born of a small gathering of College Club Presidents and Senior Students at an Inter-Collegiate Conference held in Canberra in 1968 with the first official conference in 1969.
The conference has developed over the last forty years to become the flagship of NAAUC operations and has grown considerably in size since the late 60s to approximately 250 delegates representing over 90 Colleges, Halls and Student Villages fromĀ each State and Territory in Australia.
Since its inception, NAAUC has evolved to take on other roles as well. The Association has developed its own outreach programs to engage with members. The elected executive members provide a not-for-profit on location service for students in residence known as Professional Development Seminars. These seminars form a key component of educating and generating awareness of how to best address the variety of issues facing university students in residence. They tackle every imaginable issue from event management, to developing stronger relations with college administration, right through to mental health issues.
The Association has steadily grown from these humble beginnings, with theĀ 40th Annual NAAUC Conference taking place in July 2008 hosted by Trinity, a residential college affiliated with the University of Western Australia.
NAAUC is proud of its long history of involvement in providing for the unique collegiate experiences of Australian students.
