Funny story about the college:
When the College opened in February 1965, the round building became a
very distinctive landmark on Royal Parade. It was a unique concept, to
build a round building and it was quickly dubbed 'the colosseum'.
When the first group of student moved in, someone made a sign and hung
it out, facing Royal Parade. It said: 'Christians v Lions, 2 pm Saturday.'
Someone else added a bit: 'Sorry, show cancelled. No Christians.'
The Principal thought this very amusing.
