Applications for the community member scholarship are now open!

This scholarship is designed to acknowledge that true leadership sometimes comes without a title. It is designed for people who still want to make a positive change in their community, and have the ideas, energy and enthusiasm to see it through!

Please note that this scholarship covers the cost of a full delegate ticket, but does not cover transport costs or spending money while at conference.


The recipient of the Community Member Scholarship must:

  • Be living in a residential community in 2020; and

  • Be interested in improving the residential community environment at your residence and nationally; and

  • Not have a formal leadership position in 2020, but demonstrated leadership ability/passion for change.

application process

DUE: Friday 8 November (5pm)

SUBMISSION: via email to the NAAUC Secretary, Charlotte Maybery-Reupert, at

INCLUDE: 1-2 pages maximum

  • An explanation of why you want to attend NAAUC National Conference.

  • An explanation of what you want to take away from National Conference, and what you want to take back to your residence.

  • At least half a page responding to the question: “how do you create change in your residence without a leadership position?”

  • A written reference from the President/Head RA/Head of residence (whoever is considered most suitable).

The recipient of the merit scholarship will be required to:

  • Exhibit behaviours during the conference that exemplify NAAUC’s values.

  • Complete a diary throughout conference (approx 100 words per day) critiquing the conference experience.
