Host College: St Andrew’s College, of USYD.

NAAUC 2009 will enable delegates the opportunity to reside in the illustrious halls of St Andrew’s College. Due to an expected increase in numbers this year we are also prepared for an overflow of delegates to rest next door at the picturesque Sancta Sophia College whilst attend meals at St Andrew’s.

St Andrew's College is a highly respected co-residential college within the University of Sydney with a population of over 285 male and female Undergraduates, Resident Fellows and Graduate residents. The establishment is fraught with Scottish tradition, camaraderie and college spirit. It prides itself on providing a combination of intellectual, academic and social independence. St Andrew’s, governed by its own elected Council, is situated within the campus of the University of Sydney. Set within its own picturesque grounds and courtyards, St Andrew's has offered residency, academic and social support to students for over 140 years. Its excellent libraries, conference rooms, Dining Hall, Chapel, Junior and Senior common rooms, Highlander Bar, full-size oval and ‘The Glen’, computer room and individual internet and telephone connections within its 285 bedrooms will enable the 2009 NAAUC conference to bloom.

Each delegate on arrival at St Andrew’s will be show to their own lockable room, many fitted with double bed, fridge and en suite. Each room will also have a large desk, cupboard, bookshelf, heating, essential furniture and linen provided.

On the rare occasion that delegates will have a moment to rest, the newly renovated Junior Common Room and Highlander Bar will provide them with a large flat screen TV and Foxtel, pool and table tennis tables, a vending machine, indoor and outdoor socializing areas and the Highlander Bar. The large St Andrew’s Oval, tennis, basketball courts and grounds will be a great place to let off some steam and recreate in between events, or just sit in the Sydney sun and relax on the sprawling lawns. Due to the proximity of Sydney University to the centre of Sydney, it will be easy for delegates to pop down to Sydney Harbour to enjoy the sights and experience all the City has to offer.

Not only will all the high quality facilities at St Andrew’s College be used throughout the conference, but we will also be using Sydney University lecture theatres and if need be St Paul’s, Wesley and Sancta Sophia College facilities for workshops, professional development seminars and discussion groups during the conference.
