Charity Events
Global Dinner
One of the most important aspects about the NAAUC 2009 Conference is its goal to reach $5,000.00 which will be donated to the Oak Tree Foundation, a charity started by Young Australian of the Year, Hugh Evans. During the course of the evening, we will have speakers informing us about the pressing issues that Oak Tree deal with in impoverished countries around the world. Delegates will find themselves entering into the first, s econd or third world, experiencing the hardships or privileges corresponding to their class.
Charity Auction
The Charity Auction will commence after the meal, with Chris Taylor from the acclaimed ABC show the Chaser as our Auctioneer and MC. A catalogue of more expensive items will be sent around to colleges before the conference, informing house committees and administration about the items up for auction so that delegates will come prepared with pledges they can follow through with. Some items that could have the potential to be up for grabs include a signed Wallabies Jersey and other merchandise, cases of wine, holidays, artwork, VIP passes to events and backstage, even our very own live man auction… who knows we might even be able to auction off a hunky Wallaby!
